Dr. David Van Essen, Alumni Endowed Professor of Neurobiology at Washington University School of Medicine. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) for the Human Connectome Project, jointly with Dr. Kamil Ugurbil from the University of Minnesota. The Human Connectome Project is a 5-year project to map human brain circuitry in healthy adults. The Van Essen Laboratory develops and uses computerized brain mapping techniques to study the structure, function, and development of cerebral cortex in humans and nonhuman primates.
