Dr. Birn is the Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Physics at the Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior. Professor Birn’s background is in MRI physics, with most of his previous research focused on improving the usefulness of functional MRI. The goal of the Birn Lab is to improve techniques for measuring functional brain organization, specifically resting-state functional connectivity MRI, and to use these tools in order to understand the changes in the functional organization of the brain during childhood and adolescence. One of their current research projects focuses on the development of brain circuitry involved in regulating emotion.
Title: Individual differences in resting-state functional connectivity.
