Dr. Brewer is the Medical Director of the Yale Therapeutic Neuroscience Clinic, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Brewer received his MD/PhD at Washington University in St. Louis. His research focuses on the elucidation of neurobiological mechanisms underlying the interface between stress, mindfulness and the addictive process, and in developing effective means for the modulation of these processes to better treat substance use disorders. His lab also focuses on improving methods to assay mindfulness practice and acquisition, using sophisticated fMRI methods (including real-time feedback) to examine the effects of mindfulness-training on brain function and mental health.
